Apple Pickin' Time

The month of September was filled with bushels of activities surrounding APPLES! We read lots of stories about apples, math projects (graphing, counting, sorting, patterning,), in science we cut them apart to see the different parts (stem, skin, flesh, core, seeds) and used our senses to describe apples. We got to taste test our apples to see which one we like best. We even cut up our apples and made homemade applesauce! We celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday with not cake, but an apple pie of course! Thanks parents for providing the apples for all of our projects!
We read "Ten Apples Up On Top" by Dr. Suess

Take A Sniff!!!

After learning about our five senses, we did some different hands on activities to put our senses to the test. We played a game of eye spy, we ate Jelly Belly jelly beans with our eyes closed to guess the flavor, we felt different items hidden in a brown bag to guess what it was and listened to some different sounds to guess what made it. We also put our sniffers to the test by smelling scents out of a bag and guess what it was. This by far was their favorite and we were all giggling as they got to smell some very nice smelling scents and some NOT so nice smelling scents!
